Spam messages, chain letters, links and photos
Every year Internet technology seems to get more and more complex. Trying to keep up with it is an incredibly challenging issue at Valley View and I imagine with all of our parents and families as well.
Due to an ever increasing volume of Spam messages in our Valley View email boxes, 2400 on one day last week, I have found it necessary to block off all misaddressed emails. Everyone was given their Valley View Student's email address, however I will show it here once again to bar further confusion...
Say John Doe was a student here at Valley View... His email address would be j.doe at valleyviewschool.org. You would need to replace the at with the @ symbol. The period between the first initial and last name is required. It is necessary to replace the @ symbol in my email address above because there are even Spam robots that can glean email addresses from text on webpages. Amazing...
I would also like to take this opportunity to ask all families to refrain from sending the following...
- chain letter messages
- possible urban legend messages
- emails that have links to follow on the Internet (most of the Internet is blocked off)
- movies
- and photos (within reason I will print a few, every once in a while)
The students do not check their own email. They get a printed copy of it around lunchtime, Monday through Friday.
Thank You for your time.
