Valley View School has a lengthy history of drama productions. Just like academics, athletics, music, and outdoor activities, we believe offering students opportunities in the Arts can be very therapeutic. In recent years, we have taken advantage of our small yet well-equipped theater to produce everything from one-act plays to full-length musicals. We have amassed a nice collection of costumes, set decorations and props over the years, allowing us to make drama an exciting experience for our actors, set builders and technicians.
The quality of the productions at Valley View is top-notch. Boys perform two major productions each year, and parents, families, staff and the general public are all welcome. We have done some of the old favorites, including Beauty and the Beast, The Odd Couple, and The Wizard of Oz, as well as some lesser known pieces like Too Many Cooks.
Through our drama program we see over and over that our boys are capable of amazing things when they are challenged. They are challenged to learn lines, sing songs, make a commitment, to work together – to take a chance! It is very gratifying to watch this process develop, to see what they can learn and to see what they can do. The real payoff though, is seeing the pride and joy on the faces of boys who have succeeded, when they thought they couldn’t.
